A number of key overseas expansions have spelled the future for the food production, distribution, and sourcing giant OSI Group. OSI Group offers food services and products to a variety of restaurants, grocery stores, and chains across the globe. This includes Starbucks, Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, Subway, and McDonald’s. Therefore, the chances that you have eaten something from this company while enjoying the deliciousness are very high.

OSI Group was founded in 1909 in Aurora, Illinois. Since then, the company has grown greatly from their humble roots. They offer pizza, meat patties, veggies, dough products and more. They employ over 20,000 people and have factories in 65 locations across 18 countries worldwide.

Recently, the company turned their attention to rapid growth. Their $6.4 yearly revenue number is impressive, but the CEO and President were not satisfied with this. One of their moves to grow was to acquire a Tyson factory for $7.4 million. This action also had the benefit of saving hundreds of jobs for Chicago factory workers.

In addition to the domestic expansion, they have picked up two companies abroad. One is the Dutch company Baho Foods. This giant distributes products to over 17 countries in Europe and has various locations in Germany as well. They also bought Flagship Europe, which is known for delicious pastries, pies, veggies, and meat options. With more expansion set for Spain, OSI is setting up nicely in Europe.

When it comes to the modern food industry, it’s hard to know if what you’re getting is quality and safe. In addition it’s almost impossible to know the morals of the company. Luckily, at least with OSI, you know you’re getting food products that have happy employees using the state of the art equipment to make sure it’s safe. Of course it’s delicious too, but it’s always good to know that food from OSI is from a a company that employs people all around the world and gives back to the community as they expand. For example, they have partnered with Ronald McDonald House and Feeding America, which will ensure struggling citizens are fed and receive supplies they really need.
